Meet Robin Burgess

Please meet Robin Burgess

Robin Burgess has practiced law for approximately 14 years and currently serves as an Administrative Law Judge. As an Administrative Law Judge, Robin presides over workers compensation claims and over appeals of independent review organizations regarding determinations of medical necessity for health care services and fee disputes.

The Lawyer

Prior to her current service as an Administrative Law Judge, Robin joined one of the Nation’s largest disability firms where she served as the Senior Attorney in their Houston office. As Senior Attorney, Robin supervised both legal and nonlegal staff. Robin has also represented disabled Texans, including hundreds of veterans that were denied disability benefits.

Robin began her legal career as an Assistant District Attorney in the Domestic Violence Bureau where she prosecuted domestic violence cases. Many of the domestic violence cases were heard in the Integrated Domestic Violence Court concurrently with a pending family court matter. Robin was competitively selected to serve as the Family Court liaison to handle juvenile prosecutions that were removed from Criminal Court to Family Court. Robin has also presented cases to the grand jury and served as first chair in both bench and jury trials.

Her Service

While in law school, Robin joined Phi Alpha Delta, a law fraternity, which means “love of humanity and justice for all”. Robin has dedicated her legal career to public service. Robin also dedicates an enormous amount of time and energy to several charitable endeavors. Robin maintains an active membership in organizations such as Jack and Jill of America, Incorporated and Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, where she continues to serve on the executive board and has chaired various committees.

Robin was elected as President Elect of the Houston Lawyers Association, serving lawyers and the community, in Harris, Brazoria, Fort Bend and Montgomery Counties. Robin resides in Brazoria County with her loving family.
